‘The Last Kingdom’ starring Loud and Clear’s very own Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Uhtred starts on BBC Two on 22nd Oct at 9pm

A Saxon boy’s life is turned upside down when he is seized by a Viking warlord after his father’s defeat in the invasion of York. Raised to manhood as a Dane, he eventually embarks on a quest to reclaim the lands of his birth and to discover who he is – Saxon or Viking.

Set in the late ninth century, when what is known as England today was several separate kingdoms. The Anglo-Saxon lands are attacked and, in many instances, ruled by Danes. The Kingdom of Wessex has been left standing alone.
